Rumour: "Wonder Woman" To Be Set In 1920’s

Bleeding Cool is reporting that the Wonder Woman movie will be set in the 1920s as opposed to in the modern day, as most had assumed.

According to the report, the first have the film we take place on war torn Paradise Island. Eventually, a man will show up, throwing the status quo off balance with his plea for aid from the Amazons. Wonder Woman leaves the Paradise Island with the man – who is not necessarily Steve Trevor – and then, SURPRISE! It’s the 1920s. Wonder Woman then goes on to explore a world that has only just granted women suffrage, from the perspective of someone who just left an all-female society.

According to the report, the plan is to follow the first Wonder Woman up with a sequel set during World War II, and then turn the whole thing into a trilogy with a third film set during the modern day/Justice League era.

To hear Warner Bros. going the period piece route with Wonder Woman is a little surprising, considering that was the direction of Joss Whedon’s 2005 Wonder Woman film project that spent two years as an outline before the studio decided they didn’t like it.

Wonder Woman is expected to be released June 23, 2017.

"Never Say Never" To Superhero Movies Says Christopher Nolan

Whether you happen to like his movies or not, there’s no denying that Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy paved the way for comic book based films to be taken that bit more seriously. Not that he was the first to take the realistic “dark and gritty” approach that so many fans are actually a bit tired of now, but the phenomenal critical and commercial success of Batman Begins, The Dark Knight (in particular) and The Dark Knight Rises really put the comic book/superhero genre on the map in a way it had never been before. Since he wrapped the last film in the trilogy, Nolan served as executive producer on Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel, but don’t expect him to play any role in WB/DC’s film slate moving forward..or indeed any other superhero-type movie. “I think I had a great experience with the superhero genre and got to explore a lot of things,” Nolan tells Time Out. “But it was a good decade of my life and I find it hard to imagine returning to it. But never say never,” Well, at least he’s not ruling it out completely. Perhaps one day he’ll like a script, or a character, or an idea enough to step back into that world he helped define.

Scarlet Witch Will Cause Havoc For The Avengers

In an interview with Marvel.com, The Avengers’ Hulk, Mark Ruffalo, hints that the new additions to the team in Avengers: Age of Ultron may be bad influences.
Ruffalo specifically names the Scarlet Witch as being able to bring out their dark sides.

“I love the new kids on the block. I love Wanda. She’s able to bring out the worst in us,” Ruffalo says.

This little statement make you wonder if the Scarlet Witch might be responsible for the Hulk’s throw down with Iron Man that we saw some of in the first trailer.

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens in theaters May 1.

New Characters Will Be In "Supergirl"

A  number of Superman’s supporting cast members who haven’t yet made it to the big screen in Man of Steel or Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will apparently be headed to TV with Supergirl, TVLine reports.

The series, executive produced by Arrow and The Flash’s Greg Berlanti, is casting a number of new roles including Jimmy Olsen, Cat Grant…and Hank Henshaw, the man who would be the Cyborg Superman (before Flashpoint, anyway).

Here’s how TVLine breaks down the casting…some of which sounds quite a bit like the New 52 iterations of the characters and some, not so much:

CAT GRANT | The project is eyeing females in their 40s, open ethnicity, to play the founder of CatCo, a media conglomerate that Cat built from the ground up. Kara (Supergirl’s mild-mannered alter ego) will work as a personal assistant to Cat, who is described as “J.Lo by way of Anna Wintour.”

JAMES OLSEN | In his late 20s/early 30s, open ethnicity, James is a smart, worldly and (duh) attractive photographer for CatCo. Though an alpha male, his salt-of-the-earth nature elicits a huge ol’ crush from Kara.

WINSLOW ‘WYNN’ SCHOTT | This twentysomething tech whiz/Comic-Con stalwart toils for CatCo as a programmer, unaware of his own (toying?) potential. Unware of her secret, he carries a torch for Kara, whom he lives next door to.

HANK HENSHAW | As an upstart CIA agent, Hank grew obsessed with intergalactic intel. Now in his 40s and lording over the DEO (Department of Extra-Normal Operations), he is on high alert when Supergirl reveals herself, worried that her otherworldly abilities pose a threat to humankind.

Supergirl is casting now and will go into production soon with an eye toward a debut next fall on CBS. It already has a series commitment

First Photo From "Pride & Prejudice & Zombies"

After years of being in development, the adaptation of the period romance remix novel Pride & Prejudice & Zombies is finally in production, and a first look photo at some of the cast has surfaced online thanks to Entertainment Weekly(via SlashFilm). The film is directed by Burr Steers (17 Again, Igby Goes Down) and based on Seth Grahame-Smith‘s novel of the same name, following the classic romance we’re all familiar with, but with the added complication of the undead putting everything and everyone in danger. Now a first look photo has revealed all of the Bennett sisters in the filmed, armed to fight zombies.
The photo isn’t really an image from the film itself, but rather a promotional image showing off the characters Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Jane (Bella Heathcote), Elizabeth (Lily James), Mary (Millie Brady), and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse). The characters have been dealing with zombies (presumed to be a kind of plague) for about 70 years by the time our story begins, so these ladies are trained to deal with the threat of the undead. The rest of the cast includesSam Riley as Mr. Darcy, Matt Smith as Mr. Collins, Jack Huston as Wickham,Douglas Booth as Bingley, and also Lena Headey and Charles Dance. Stay tuned for more.

Terminator Genisys: More Photos and Details Revealed

Following yesterday’s cover reveal, Entertainment Weekly has debuted some more photos for the upcoming Terminator Genisys, one of them our first official look at Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming film. In addition, the magazine has revealed even more details, one of which also confirms some long-standing rumors about the film, so with that in mind, we’re going to issue a potential spoiler warning.
First, EW reports that the film will be recreating Schwarzenegger’s memorable emergence from the original 1984 film at L.A.’s Griffith Observatory using both a body double and digital scans of his face from Cameron’s film.
“It’s the holy grail of visual effects,” Producer David Ellison says. “You create a walking, breathing human that doesn’t exist.”
The outlet goes on to reveal that, despite the filmmakers wishing to keep it secret, the film’s villain will be a man-machine hybrid which the’re hoping will be a “visual game changer” along with the digital Arnold.
“Part of the challenge is to dazzle people with something they haven’t seen before,” director Alan Taylor says. “There are elements in our main villain that are straining the capacities of our brilliant visual-effects people. So that’s a good sign.”
Check out the new images in the gallery viewer below and let me know your thoughts in the comments!
The first in a new trilogy of films, Terminator Genisys also stars Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee, Michael Gladis, Sandrine Holt and Matt Smith. Directed by Thor: The Dark World’s Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier, Terminator Genisys is set to hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
