Robert Downey Jr Talks IRON MAN’S Relationship With CAPTAIN AMERICA

With Avengers: Age of Ultron just weeks away from opening, and Captain America: Civil War on the horizon, he world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to start revolving around Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) about as much as he’s always imagined it has. Specifically, Tony’s relationship with Captain America (Chris Evans) is going to become the driving force behind Marvel’s narrative.

In a recent tv spot for Avengers: Age of Ultron, we saw Tony being unusually deferential when he pointed to Captain America as the Avengers’ leader. Downey tells the Times of India a bit about how their relationship works:

There are really only two relationships in Tony’s life in which he’s been willing to assume a lower status and one’s with Pepper obviously, equal footing, and the other is with Cap. It’s always whoever does the job best should probably do that job and Tony’s bringing a lot to the table and Cap has the most experience. It’s also nice to feel like there’s someone under whose tutelage you become better at what you have to do and no one’s more battle-seasoned than Cap.

Of course, that feeling of mutual respect will likely be annihilated by the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, as the two friends prepare to lead their opposing factions into battle in Captain America: Civil War.

New AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Details Plus Short BTS Clip

Disney has released the following “Fun Facts” about Avengers: Age of Ultron and they reveal a lot of interesting new details about Joss Whedon’s sequel. This includes details on the Hulk’s stretchy pants, the upgraded weaponry of Captain America and Hawkeye, and a very interesting mention of a satellite being used to keep track of the Hulk.

1. Hulk got a welcomed upgrade to his wardrobe with the addition of stretchy pants, which he wears underneath his clothes. No more will he be caught in the embarrassing situation of being half-naked in shredded clothing when he Hulks-out—the pants, made of high-tech, microfiber fabric, stretch with him.

2. Thanks to Tony Stark’s engineering skills, Hawkeye received an upgrade to his weaponry. He now has many new arrow tips that serve different purposes. Some of these are explained in the movie and others the audience will just get the joy of seeing deployed on screen. Hawkeye’s quiver has also changed—it is more automated and faster loading, and is capable of holding nine arrows.

3. Hawkeye’s bow also received a makeover, with the classic black color being changed to maroon. Added features to the bow include an infrared-sighting device and a sonic-sighting device.

4. An exciting change was also made to Captain America’s shield. It now has the ability to be called back, much like the Iron Man suits. Instead of having two handles in the back, the shield now has a magnetic element that clips onto Cap’s gauntlet.

5. Courtesy of Tony Stark, Black Widow gets to flaunt new fighting batons, which are based on Escrima Sticks. But Black Widow’s two sticks are charged exactly the same as her stingers, so when she jabs, she is not only striking her opponent, but delivering a massive jolt of power as well.

6. On this film, production designer Charles Wood and his team built an enormous, new Avengers Tower set that is the largest set ever built for a Marvel film. Much of the movie takes place there on its many different levels. A large expanse of glass opens the view to New York City and one can also see a hangar for the Quinjet. The multiple environments are all connected, with the ability to move from downstairs to upstairs and vice versa.

7. The Avengers Tower set is designed to serve the story in multiple ways. In the movie, the Tower, designed and built by Tony Stark, is a gathering place for The Avengers—a place to plan, do business, relax or study. There is a lounge area, three laboratory areas plus a machine room, a gym, a relaxation area and a locker room. The Tower was also designed to provide everything Tony Stark needs for his work and research.

8. New characters entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe from the comic book world are Wanda (Scarlet Witch) and Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver), who have powers that have not yet been seen on screen. Pietro is lightning fast and Wanda possesses the power of telekinesis, and she is able to fire neurons in people’s brains remotely using her powers and as a result can manipulate their minds.

9. Another new character on The Avengers team is Vision, played by Paul Bettany, who previously had voiced Jarvis in the Iron Man films. He’s an artificial life form whose look is truly unique. Vision’s powers are spectacular and he represents a new power base for The Avengers team.

10. The Hulkbuster is an iconic piece of Iron Man tech—a prebuilt super-suit designed to take on the Hulk. The Hulkbuster Armor was developed by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, after they studied the Hulk’s physical actions and strength levels in an effort to find a way to contain him and minimize the damage caused by his rages. A satellite in low orbit is always around Banner and at a moment’s notice, Tony Stark can deploy the Hulkbuster armor, get into it and stop the Hulk in his tracks—theoretically.

11. The redesigned Quinjet has a more militaristic look this time around and the pilots are now able to have a good look at the environment around them while flying. The design of the canopy was based on a helicopter cockpit with glass in front and below, which will give audiences a tremendous sense of speed when the Quinjet is flying through city airspace. The interior has been stripped down to a more utilitarian, sleek space as well, with many of the luxurious finishes and padding removed for an edgier look.

12. A unique asset to the production in Seoul was the use drones and remote control cars to put the camera in places that could never be achieved by camera operators or helicopters. The production enlisted the expertise of brothers Menstru Pa, who is the Korean National Champion in drone flying, and Pak Min Keu, who is the Korean National Champion in remote car racing.

13. Dressing the Super Heroes for a pivotal party scene was a task that fell to veteran costume designer Alexandra Byrne. Since it is the first time that Thor has ever been seen in party clothes, Byrne worked with Chris Hemsworth to find the right combination of jeans, jacket and shirt that would dress his shape and not look themed or fancy. Dressing Tony Stark was easier, especially since Robert Downey Jr. wanted a very sophisticated look. Subsequently it was off to London’s famous Savile Row for tailoring. After five fittings, Tony Stark emerged looking quite elegant.

As we get closer to the much-anticipated release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s becoming harder to avoid spoilers or revealing visuals. Fortunately, that’s not the case with this latest look at the Marvel sequel from Access Hollywood. Featured in the half-minute set visit segment are chats with the ensemble cast, as well as some new behind-the-scenes footage highlighting the Avengers Tower.

MARVEL STUDIOS: Kristen Stewart Wants In On Captain America!

While talking with Yahoo Movies the Twilight star Kristen Stewart expressed her interest in the superhero genre in films and wishes to get a role in with Captain America!

“I love watching those movies,” she revealed. “I would love to show people that I can do more than just be ‘Kristen Stewart’ in a different movie, in a different circumstance.” So, following her first taste of the action genre in Snow White and the Huntsman alongside Avengers: Age of Ultron star Chris Hemsworth back in 2012, which Marvel Studios franchise is Stewart interested in? “I’m sure I could get on board with Captain America, you know what I mean?… It would just have to be the right thing.”

So could this actually happen, while it could but we will have to see and wait for casting calls and other stuff. It looks to me that she would be very much up for a role and therefore play the hell out of it, so I think this could work but her disadvantage is her past films that may deter some fans could end in a catastrophe !

Robert Downey Jr teases something "Huge" for Captain America 3

Last week, the first of two gigantic stories broke when it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. would be reprising his role of Tony Stark in the upcoming Captain America 3, which will launch elements of the “Civil War” storyline into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, speaking with Yahoo!, Downey was asked about the prospect of him appearing in the film, saying:
“Yeah, that sounds very exciting.” When asked if he could comment further, teased: “If I do, I’ll just regret it… It’s gonna be huge, whatever it is.”
Jeremy Renner previously teased that he could be suiting up for Captain America 3 as well. Though Clint Barton was deceased at the time of the “Superhuman Civil War” in the comics, his protege Kate Bishop, using the name Hawkeye, was very much a part of the action and sided with Captain America.
Anthony and Joe Russo, the sibling director pair behind Captain America: The Winter Soldier, are directing the May 6, 2016 film, which features a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and, of course, the return of Chris Evans as the star-spangled superhero.

TO BE CONFIRMED : Robert Downey Jr is to be in Captain America 3

********NOTE THAT THIS STORY HAS NOT BE CONFIRMED BY MARVEL*********

There is A LOT of movement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of late, and today alone has provided us with some huge developments involving the still-under-wraps Captain America 3. Not only did we find out that the Civil War storyline is going to start up with the third (and final?) Captain America film, but also that Spider-Man might be involved in the future. Of course, this was all trumped by the announcement that Robert Downey Jr. will be on hand as Tony Stark in the next Steve Rogers adventure, which not only signals big happenings but also a big pay day. The reported figure is $40 million-plus.

Thanks to Variety, we now have an idea of just how big of a pay day he’ll be raking in after his recent negotiations. So how much does it take to hire Robert Downey Jr. for an appearance in a Marvel movie? Well, if the past is any indication, $50 million would be the number to beat. That was the figure Marvel Studios signed over for Downey Jr.’s participation in The Avengers.

Of course, that’s not how much Robert Downey Jr. will be banking for Captain America 3, as Variety’s sources say he’s signed on for a $40 million pay day up front, in exchange for an expansion of his role in the film. Originally, Tony Stark was going to be a bit player in the next Chris Evans led film, but Downey Jr. expressed that he wanted a meatier part in what promises to set Marvel Studios up for the next couple of phases. However there is a way that Iron Man could be bringing home something extra when this is all done and over, as he’s reportedly negotiated a portion of the film’s backend profits.

In addition to receiving a cut of Captain America 3’s profits, there’s a clause set in Robert Downey Jr.’s contract that will put him in line for another pay out if the film breaks the franchise’s record. So if Captain America 3 exceeds the $714 million total gross that Captain America: The Winter Soldier brought in, Downey Jr. will receive an extra pay out, presumably for making that happen. It’s not a bad assumption, as Iron Man is still the highest grossing stand-alone hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the Marvel/Robert Downey Jr. brand is at peak output as we speak.

As far as what Robert Downey Jr. has brought to the table for Marvel Studios, the agreement to pay him in such a manner is well deserved. If his role in Captain America 3 was maintained at the previous level of involvement that was denoted, it could be seen as a bit exorbitant, but seeing as he’s now playing an official lead role, he’ll be earning every penny. No matter the scenario, Downey Jr. looks like he’ll retire/scale back his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe within the next couple of years. If he wants to go out with a bang, and get paid in the process, he’s well earned that right by consistently delivering for Marvel Studios.

No matter how you slice it, Captain America 3 is going to change everything, and if the rumors are true and the stars and stripes align, Joe and Anthony Russo will become the next masters of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Avengers 3 and 4 in their care. Captain America 3 breaks the mold on May 6, 2016. Your move, Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
