Principal photography on Suicide Squad is about to enter its seventh week of production in Toronto, Canada. And in addition to preparation for an action sequence involving a chopper crashing into two Midway City buses, a new batch of photos (via Margot Source) have revealed some rather dark usual-looking, fully armed creatures on the open set over the weekend.

Based on their appearance alone, it’s difficult to determine which DC Comics characters these guys could be, if any at all. However, they may actually be soldiers who have met Cara Delevingne’s “goddess witch,” the Enchantress, who we’ve seen officially but not yet on set.

Here’s some other set photos seemingly show us that s*&T is going “down” wherever Suicide Squad is taking place *cough*Gotham*cough*!

We must have seen more unofficial images and videos from the set of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad than any other CBM in recent history at this point, but one team member who’s been absent (though we did see some strange creatures she may have been responsible for) so far is Enchantress, who’ll be played by model turned actress Cara Delevingne.

During an interview with EW, the Paper Towns star remains tight lipped about her character, but does have some very nice things to say about the currently shooting flick, while admitting that she’s not usually a big fan of the genre.

“It’s f–king insane”, she tells the site. “I’m not the biggest fan of superhero films. There are so f–king many. I love the Batmans but some of them I’m not that keen on. I’ve never been so excited to see a film and I’m actually in it. I wish I could tell you about it at all. The movie is going to be the best thing in the world. The camaraderie on set is insane.”

Directed by David Ayer from his script, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), with Raymond Olubawale (King Shark), Jay Hernandez, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, and Scott Eastwood. The film releases on August 5, 2016.

DC DELIGHTS #1: Suicide Squad Updates, Batfleck In Suicide Squad, Aquaman For James Wan, AND MORE!

Welcome your faces to the first edition of DC Delights where I talk about all things DC movie news. This edition I talk Suicide Squad, Batman V Superman, Batfleck in Suicide Squad and MORE!

Variety has learned that Alex Meraz has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and DC’s “Suicide Squad.” Pic is currently in production in Toronto and stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. David Ayer is directing the pic. Meraz’s role is unknown. Besides “Twilight,” Meraz’s roles include appearing opposite Jamie Dornan in the British miniseries “New Worlds.”

There’s been quite a bit of Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice concept art finding its way online recently, and the latest piece comes courtesy of former Latino Review scooper El Mayimbe. It’s been confirmed that the craft we see opening fire (a trigger happy Batman?) in the teaser is indeed the Batwing, and this new artwork gives us a much better look at the design. It’s certainly… different anyway!

Will Smith has been snapped on the set of Suicide Squad, thanks to Just Jared, and the costume he’s wearing has already created quite a stir on social media. It’s worth noting though that Deadshot appears to have both eyes here, so this could be a flashback to a time before he was a killer. The presence of a young girl seems to indicate that anyway, and it looks like they’re shopping together. Either way, the Gotham City police car confirms where these scenes are set, so that too raises some interesting questions about the movie. For example, could it be that this will be an origin story for the character?

Regardless, this look for Deadshot isn’t too much of a departure from Batman mythos as it’s clearly influenced by animated movie, Batman: Gotham Knight. Of course, we don’t know if he’s wearing this outfit for a single scene, will don a variation of it later in the movie, or might have something altogether different as part of the “skwad”.

Just Jared spotted Jared Leto keeping his bright green hair hidden under a hat while stepping out on Wednesday afternoon (April 29) in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City.

The 43-year-old actor was spotted with a female friend and later was joined by a different female pal.

It seems the success of the latest Fast & Furious movie has put directer James Wan at the top of quite a few lists. Deadline report that he’s the man Sony want to kick-start their new Robotech franchise, and reckon he is in early talks to do just that. The site also acknowledges that Wan has a lot of offers on the table, but hear that “he and Sony are going to try and make this work.”

As we knew already, one of those offers was Warner Bros’ solo Aquaman movie, and The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider is hearing that Wan has agreed to helm it after his next project, The Conjuring 2. If that’s the case, it’ll obviously be a while before cameras roll on Robotech, so it’s entirely possible something will have to give here.

If you want Batman to show up in Suicide Squad, well you are in luck as eTalk have snapped some BTS shots that show Ben Affleck’s Batman and some Gotham police cars! SO clearly he will show!

These images were posted on the Blu-ray forums, and as you can see they provide our most detailed look yet at the armoured Bat-suit that was glimpsed in the recent trailer. Rumor has it that the Dark Knight (Ben Affleck) will be sporting a third suit of some kind to aid him in his battle against the Man Of Steel (Henry Cavill), but we haven’t seen any evidence of that…yet!

THR has posted a report on the state of Warner Bros.’ budding DC cinematic universe, and by the sounds of things they might be in a bit of trouble. The main problem seems to be the lack of any one person steering the ship and making sure everything is being set up to gel together. The closest thing they have to this type of figure is probably Zack Snyder, but while the director is said to be broadly overseeing the journey towards Justice League, he’s a little busy with Batman V Superman to give much else his full attention. Because of this WB has apparently adopted more of a “filmmaker-driven approach”, with David Ayer, for example, being given full creative control over Suicide Squad.

This isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Although Marvel’s output syncs up very well as a shared universe, their movies have also been criticised for seeming a bit generic, or “samey”. WB’s approach is definitely a riskier one, but it may ultimately yield better individual films.

Even if that’s the case though, it doesn’t sound like anyone THR spoke to about this believes it’s a smart move. We already knew the studio had hired multiple writers to work on competing scripts for Wonder Woman, and it looks like they’ve followed suit with Aquaman. Apparently Will Beall, Jeff Nichols and Kurt Johnstad are all penning separate takes on the King of Atlantis. This approach was described as “throwing shit against the wall to see what stuck” by one insider.

GETTING INTO RUMOUR TERRITORY

The reaction to the first official image of Jared Leto as The Joker was divisive to say the least. The drastically different look which included metallic teeth and tattoos upset some fans, with many convincing themselves that the tattoos all over his body were there just to celebrate the character’s 75th anniversary. That’s a pretty stupid theory, right? Well, perhaps not according to JoBlo.com.

The site’s source apparently tells them that “the Joker image everybody is talking about isn’t a genuine image and doesn’t match up with how he looks on set.” Hang on a second though, the image was Tweeted out by DC Comics, Suicide Squad director David Ayer, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder, and a number of others, so it’s hardly a fake! What it may have been though is an attempt to trick fans as “He’s missing scars (which we reported on a while back as mementos from his history with Batman) and the grill/teeth are a kind of WTF addition to the image. Our source elaborates that he’s scarred on his back and arms and his skin is definitely whiter than what we see below. The tattoos are brand new if even real, and may have been added to cover up the areas where his scars will be.” Nope, I’m not buying that for a second!

Warner Bros. must have known the level of coverage that the first image of The Joker in the DC Cinematic Universe would receive, and I don’t buy them putting out one with a bunch of fake additions like the teeth and tattoos.

Man of Steel didn’t really tease a shared DC Cinematic Universe, but Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad look set to change that in a major way. Latino-Review have dropped some very interesting details about the ties between those two movies today, and it turns out that Jared Leto will be shooting scenes for both while in Toronto. They reveal that it will be a flashback scene which depicts The Joker beating Jason Todd, a.k.a. Robin, to death (presumably with a crowbar).

That will explain why he’s behind bars and may even tie in with those rumours we heard a long time ago about Batman giving up crime fighting until Superman enters the scene. Robin’s costume will be on display in the Batcave, and the site theorises that that could be what triggers the flashback. They also reveal that Bruce Wayne/Batman will be making an appearance in Suicide Squad, with the Batmobile reportedly on site in Toronto too.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25th, 2016; Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016; Wonder Woman – June 23rd, 2017; Justice League – November 17th, 2017; The Flash – March 23rd, 2018; Aquaman – July 27th, 2018; Shazam – April 5th, 2019; Justice League 2 – June 14th, 2019; Cyborg – April 3rd, 2020; Green Lantern – June 19th, 2020.

Get Your First Look At A Blurry Jared Leto’s Joker For SUICIDE SQUAD

So far, Jared Leto’s transformation into the “majestic” Joker has been the highlight of Suicide Squad shooting in Toronto, Canada. And while the Oscar-winning actor has shared many photos of his preparation for the supervillain role on social media, it appears the paparazzi has spotted Leto while sharing a personal photo of what might be an official look at the Joker in the DC adaptation.

Directed by David Ayer from his script, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang),
Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), with Raymond Olubawale (King Shark), Jay Hernandez, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, and Scott Eastwood. The film releases on August 5, 2016!

First Image of Jared Leto Sporting The Joker’s Signature Green Hair For SUICIDE SQUAD

David Ayer has taken to twitter once more, this time addressing fan concerns with the hashtag #WhereIsJared. While we heard Leto was on tour, it looks like they might have left him out of the cast shot due to a recent hair change. Ayers tweet teases a first look at Leto with The Joker’s signature green style, and it’s a pretty sweet reference to one of The Joker’s standout appearances in Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke. It’s a blurry look, but it’s a look all the same. No doubt the picture is filtered to hell and back, but they seem to be going with a bit more of a blue-green color, which looks pretty darn creepy with Leto rocking the no eyebrows style.

Jesse Eisenberg is also still expected to reprise his Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice role as Lex Luthor, and Akinnuoye-Agbaje joins a cast which includes Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, and a number of others. It’s set to be released on August 5th, 2016.

New Details On Jared Leto’s Take On ‘The Joker’ For SUICIDE SQUAD

Latino Review’s El Mayimbe has posted the last of his Suicide Squad scoops, and this one relates to the incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime Jared Leto will be playing in the film. As we’d all assumed from previous reports, this version of the character will (apparently) be primarily based on The Joker from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns — he’ll even have those exaggerated shoulders by the sounds of it. Also, anyone worried that we’d be getting another painted on clown face can rest easy, as Mayimbe reckons it’s bleached skin all the way. He also provides details on what got The Joker locked away in the first place, but obviously beware of big SPOILERS before reading any further.

“He’s lean & scarred but his suit does have broad shoulders. Joker works out in his cell like an inmate when he is interrogated by Amanda Waller. He’s doing hand stand push ups so it makes sense that Jared Leto said he is putting on weight. He’s definitely not skinny, but in fact more muscular. He has bleached skin not make up. He’s killed one of Batman’s sidekicks, there is a lot of references to his past crimes. He kills a lot of people.”

Very interesting stuff… and there’s more! It’s just a rumour for now, but Mayimbe mentions another Bat-baddie that’ll be conversing with The Joker in his cell: Hugo Strange. No word on potential casting for that role yet, but word is Strange will be the prison psychiatrist, so we might be looking at some cool Silence Of The Lambs style interactions. Let us know what you think of all this in the usual place.

Margot Robbie Gives SUICIDE SQUAD Multi-Picture Deal Details

Given David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie will most definitely explore the twisted love affair between Harley Quinn and the Joker, actress Margot Robbie was asked recently whether or not she has spent time with co-star Jared Leto since being almost three months ago. “I heard from his manager that he was not that far behind me, so I’ll say hi when he gets here,” Robbie told MTV last night while attending the 87th annual Academy Awards. “We haven’t seen each other since we got the [Suicide Squad] roles, so hopefully he’s happy about it.”

In a separate interview with AZCentral, Margot Robbie was asked whether or not it’s scary to know that her multi-picture contract may require her to play Harley Quinn for years. “Yeah, that’s daunting,” she replied. “You don’t need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away. … But with her, it’s a character I don’t think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did Suicide Squad One, Two and Three, I would be over the moon about it.”

Directed David Ayer from his screenplay, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), with Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Jessie Eisenberg (Lex Luthor). The film opens August 5, 2016!

Jared Leto Is Gaining Weight For THE JOKER For SUICIDE SQUAD

Playing the Joker onscreen means stepping into some big shoes left by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. So how is Jared Leto preparing for his role as the iconic Batman villain in Suicide Squad?

When Billboard caught up with him, it was by getting bigger! “I’m trying to gain a lot of weight. It means I have to eat every couple of hours — and I’m terrible at eating a lot,” (Case in point: Leto was eating vegan tacos during the interview, which are hardly the fattiest food on the market.)

As for what appealed to him about the project (especially when it comes with so much pressure), he added: “The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character — that’s what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? [He’s] this beautiful disaster of a character — what a big challenge.” That’s certainly an interesting way to look at the villain. The rest of the Suicide Squad cast includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, and Joel Kinnaman(TBC) as Rick Flagg.

Margot Robbie Talks Suicide Squad, Jared Leto, And More

MTV News caught up with Margot Robbie at the Sundance Film Festival to talk Suicide Squad, and they started off by asking the actress how she feels to be the first actress to bring Harley Quinn to life on the big screen. “Yeah, I guess it’s intimidating because there’s obviously a lot of people I want to please, and a character I have to do justice, but it’s a challenge, I’m definitely up for it, and hopefully I don’t disappoint.” Unfortunately, when the site asked if she has a specific voice in mind, she couldn’t give too many details away about the project as it’s still in such early stages. “We haven’t gotten too far into it, we’re still pretty far off. I’m actually shooting a movie before that, so my focus is kind of on that at the moment, we haven’t really gotten into the logistics of everything yet.” She then went on to express her excitement to work with Jared Leto (he plays The Joker in the movie), describing him as a “Great, great co-star.”

According to Variety Jared Leto, Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delevingne will make up the all-star cast in Warner Bros.’ super villain tentpole “Suicide Squad,” it was announced on Tuesday.
Based on the DC comic book, the story centers on the team of super villains who are given a chance at redemption by the government. The catch: Their mission will probably kill them all.
The actors names had long-been rumored for the high-profile movie, which opens Aug. 5, 2016, but their deals and characters weren’t finalized.
Here’s the official cast/character list:
Jared Leto – The Joker
Will Smith – Deadshot
Tom Hardy – Rick Flagg
Margot Robbie – Harley Quinn
Jai Courtney – Boomerang
Cara Delevinge – Enchantress
“Suicide Squad,” directed by David Ayer and produced by Charles Roven, will begin shooting next April in Toronto.
According to insiders, Jesse Eisenberg is also in talks to play Lex Luthor in the film, a role he will first play in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” though the status of his deal is unknown.
“The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one,” WB President Greg Silverman said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.”
Warners has always viewed this project as its “Oceans Eleven” to comic book movies and always wanted to load the roster up with top tier talent that compares to the ‘Ocean Eleven’ movies.
Warners still has the role of Amanda Waller, the character who oversees the team similar to Nick Fury in the Marvel universe, to cast before the film goes into production. The studio’s short list of actresses being eyed for the role includes Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Oprah Winfrey, whom sources say would be WB’s first choice for the part.
Leto, who is making his first pic since winning the Oscar for “Dallas Buyers Club,” is repped by CAA.
Smith can be seen next in Warner Bros. “Focus” which also stars Margot Robbie. Both are reppped by CAA with Robbie also repped by Management 360 and Aran Michael Management and Smith repped by Overbrook Entertainment.
Hardy is currently filming “The Revenant” opposite Leonardo DiCaprio which bows next Christmas. He is repped by CAA.
The WME-repped Delevingne, an English model-turned-actress, can next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Pan.”
Courtney appears in the upcoming “Terminator” reboot and is repped by UTA.
