Ian McKellen Will Return For X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

In an interview with Oregon Live, Patrick Stewart revealed some very interesting details about the future of the X-Men franchise which might just get him into hot water with bosses at 20th Century Fox! He’s Patrick Stewart though, so he really doesn’t have to worry about that kind of thing. Anyway, after saying that he believes the chances of him being in X-Men: Apocalypse are “very unlikely”, he confirmed that we will once again see the older version of Magneto.

“But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it,” the actor told the site. How on Earth he will factor into this story is a mystery as of right now, but that’s certainly an interesting development. However, even more intriguing is what Stewart revealed about plans for The Wolverine 2. “And what I’m very excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That would be a very different sort of “X-Men” from the four movies that I’ve already done.”

If that movie is set in the new continuity we first saw at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, some cameos from other returning favourites might just give fans the X-Men 4 movie they’ve all been waiting for. What do you guys think about a possible Wolverine/Professor X team-up?

X-MEN APOCALYPSE: No Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen!

In an interview with Larry King, Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek: The Next Generation”) delivered some sad news. When asked if he was going to be in the next X-Men film, Stewart replied, “No. Nor Sir Ian McKellen, either.” Wow, not only is Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier not going to be in it, but McKellen’s master of magnetism Erik Lehnsherr, aka Magneto, won’t appear either. That’s a bummer, man.

“I was learning quite a lot more about it last night, and it is going to be looking very much at the earlier lives of all our characters,” Stewart added. “And so I don’t think we’ll be making an appearance.”

This actually makes a lot of sense due to the fact that Apocalypse will be heavily set in the 80’s so we wouldn’t see the older versions of Magneto or Xavier. Although we will see a younger Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops. Plus a balding James McAvoy is a likely scenario!
