Title For ARROW/FLASH Spinoff Revealed?

In a report from Cannes MipTV event, Variety has seemingly confirmed the title of the upcoming “Flash”/”Arrow” spinoff series, which has so far been kept under wraps and has become the subject of much speculation. The passage from Variety reads:

With MipTV wrapped, the focus now shifts to the L.A. Screenings in May. Big product suppliers were using MipTV to talk up L.A. Screenings bows that include, in terms of shows attracting attention for WBITVD, “Supergirl” for CBS, “Blindspot” for NBC, “Legends of Tomorrow” for CW, and also “The Curse of the Fuentes Women,” for NBC.

The title falls in line with the one casually mentioned by “Flash” actor John Wesley Shipp during a convention panel over the weekend. Shipp called the spinoff “Legends,” a name that harkens back to the 1986 DC Comics limited series. Variety’s report seemingly reveals the show’s full name — “Legends of Tomorrow.”
With “of Tomorrow” added, the show’s title does not immediately ring any DC bells. If not for Shipp’s recent reveal that the word “Legends” is part of the spinoff’s name, the title might have slipped by unnoticed in the roll call at the end of the Variety piece. Earlier rumors listed “Atom” as the series’ working title; this new title lines up with executive producer Andrew Kresiberg’s comments debunking those rumors.
The “Flash” and “Arrow” spinoff is set to star Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom on “Arrow”), Wentworth Miller (Leonard Snart/Captain Cold on “Flash”), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heat Wave on “Flash”), Victor Garber (Martin Stein/one-half of Firestorm on “Flash”) and Caity Lotz in an as-yet undisclosed role, following the death of her “Arrow” character of Sara Lance at the start of this season. Ciara Renee and Arthur Darvill have also joined the show as Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter, respectively. “Flash” and “Arrow” vets Andrew Kreisberg, Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim will executive produce.

ARROW/ THE FLASH Spinoff Series Other Heroes Revealed; Plus Caity Lotz Confirms Her Involvement

A casting call for The CW’s forthcoming Arrow/The Flash spinoff series has emerged, and TVLine shared the three “mystery” heroes previously announced as part of the project.

Well, mostly. They’ve got the casting calls, which of course in a project this sensitive don’t actually name the characters, per se.

Here’s who we have:

“THE TRAVELER” | A Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.

“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.

“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.

During a recent panel appearance at Fan Fest 2015, Arrow’s Caity Lotz was asked about the future of her character and, as you’d expect, both addressed and attempted to avoid addressing the planned spinoff series in which she’s been cast.

The series, which will reportedly star Brandon Routh, Victor Garber and Lotz as well as three new superhero characters yet to be cast, is still officially in early development but is expected to go straight to series, bypassing a pilot and coming to The CW in 2016 with a 13-episode order.

But…how’s her dead character meant to return?

“Sara Lance definitely died in Episode 1 of Season 3 — oh, spoiler alert! Sorry if you’re not caught up,” she joked. “And then…has anybody heard about the spinoff? So there is a new show in development and I’m so excited to finally be able to talk about this. The Atom, Firestorm, my character and, so I guess that is a big thing that’s going on and everyone keeps asking me when they see on the Internet, ‘Well, you’re dead. How are you going to be in the new show? Is it just going to be flashbacks or are you playing a whole new character? Are you Sara Lance? I would love to tell you, btu I think they might kill me.”

When the moderator suggested to her that nobody really stays dead in comics anyway, Lotz added, “How many times have I died already? Sara Lance has died, I think three times, so you never know.”

You can check out the full panel below; she discusses the spinoff around the 3-minute mark.

The one thing that stands out there is her reference to”my character,” which seemed like she was talking about Sara Lance, her existing character. That may be reading too much in for comfort, though — or she might have chosen that phrasing for exactly its ambiguity.

Arrow will be back with new episodes on March 18 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.

The spinoff…well, that’s yet to be determined, but the rumor is that it will be prepped as a midseason series next year.
