Ed Skrein Confirms He’ll Play ‘Ajax’ In DEADPOOL

Though we’ve known Ed Skrein would play a villainous character in Fox’s Deadpool for a while now, the actor has confirmed via the following Tweet that the particular villain will be Ajax. In the comics, Ajax (aka Francis) was also a part of the Weapon X programme and, like Wade Wilson, was experimented on by the sadistic Dr. Killebrew. He’s a formidable foe for the Merc With a Mouth, possessing enhanced strength, speed and agility… not to mention the fact that he’s a remorseless killing machine.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Directed by Tim Miller, while starring Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson), Morena Baccarin (Vanessa Carlysle), T.J. Miller (Weasel), with Ed Skrein, and Brianna Hildebrand (Ellie Phimister), the much-hyped Deadpool is scheduled to open in theaters on February 12, 2016.

More DEADPOOL Set Images Feature Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano & Ed Skrein

Earlier today we got our first glimpse of Ryan Reynolds shooting a scene behind a strip club in Vancouver, and now we have set snaps of some of his Deadpool cast-mates too. Most of these pics seem to have captured the actors between takes, but there are a couple that caught them just as they were preparing to shoot, and so presumably give us a look at the clobber they’ll be sporting in the movie.
Baccarin’s character Vanessa Carlysle/Copycat started out as a prostitute in the comics, and based on what she’s wearing above that might also be her movie origin… or, y’know, she might just enjoy wearing sexy outfits! We know Ed Skrein will play a villain, but which one? In the script Wilson’s primary adversary was Ajax, but that could easily have been altered. Whoever he is it looks like he’ll be garbed in some pretty basic biker gear; at least for these scenes.
