MARVEL’S AGENT CARTER Gets A UK Release Date

Inspired by the Marvel one-shot short film of the same name, the eight-episode Agent Carter TV show aired on American TV screens in January, but British fans of Hayley Atwell’s secret agent – as originally seen in both standalone Captain America films, as well as more recently in Avengers: Age Of Ultron – were left in limbo as to when they’d get to see the first series. Now, news arrives that Fox UK has picked it up, and July 1 will be the release date.

For those not aware of how to access the Fox channel in Britain, here’s a link with all the details, and for those not aware of the set-up of the eagerly anticipated show, here it is:

Marvel’s Agent Carter tracks secret agent Peggy Carter as she deals with post-war America and a life without Cap in 1946. Peacetime has not been the best time for Carter, marginalised by her colleagues and forced to balance administrative work with much more important, stealthy duties at the Strategic Scientific Reserve, helping to build what will eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D..

Shea Whigham plays Roger Dooley, chief at the SSR and boss of agents Carter, Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and Sousa (Enver Gjokaj). The cast also includes James D’Arcy as the original human butler Jarvis and Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, AKA Tony’s dad and a key part of the SSR.

Hayley Atwell Wishes UK To Get AGENT CARTER

Hayley Atwell (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) attended the 2015 Jameson Empire Awards and presented the award for best Male Newcomer. While she was there she was asked about the status of Agent Carter airing in the UK.

“I think it will later on in the year,” Hayley Atwell said. “There is a really chance that the UK is going to get it. There must be a slight bidding war for the channel at the moment. Fingers crossed it won’t be too long.”
All 8 episode of Marvel’s Agent Carter mini-series have aired stateside on ABC, but for fans across the pond they’ll have to hold their breathe as the show doesn’t currently have a UK broadcaster. The UK’s Channel 4, which aired Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., already said they have no interest in acquiring the rights to Agent Carter.

Stan Lee To Cameo In Marvel’s Agent Carter

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Stan Lee told an audience at a Marvel-themed Q&A this week that he’ll have a cameo appearance in the forthcoming Marvel’s Agent Carter TV series.

The series, a spinoff of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., follows the development of what would eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D. by Agent Peggy Carter and Howard Stark in the days following Captain America’s disappearance in World War II (as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger).

For those who aren’t in North America or otherwise can’t get it to load, Lee said, “Oh, by the way, I do have a cameo in a new show, a TV show coming out called Agent Carter. Watch for the fourth one. I think my cameo is in the fourth episode. They ought to be ashamed of themselves that they didn’t give me three others before that but what the hell. It’s kind of a good cameo.”

Marvel’s Agent Carter will premiere in January 2015 on ABC.
