Mexico Stills And Opening Sequence Description Released For SPECTRE

The upcoming James Bond film, Spectre, has been filming in Mexico over the past weeks and now a bunch of production stills have been released and a description of the opening sequence accompanied those stills. Check them out down below!

The film opens November 6th and also stars Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ralph Fiennes as M, Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Monica Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, David Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Léa Seydoux as Madeleine Swann and Stephanie Sigman as Estrella.

Shortly after arriving on set we spoke to Heather Callow (the Spectre unit publicist) and she described the opening chase sequence they were filming in Mexico City. As you can read below, the sequence is absolutely loaded with action, has a helicopter and over a thousand extras (with tens of thousands of additional extras being added using CG in post-production).

Here’s what Callaw had to say:

This is the opening chase sequence of our film. It starts with Bond and Estrella, who are walking down this Day of the Dead parade. Estrella is played by Stephanie Sigman, who is a Mexican actress. They’re kind of weaving their way through this Day of the Dead parade, they make their way into a hotel—we’ve also shot here once before in The Living Daylights.

They’re going up to Estrella’s room, Estrella thinks she might be bringing Bond to bed but instead he’s looking out the view of her window. He sees two baddies across the way having a conversation, and he stops something really bad from happening, kills one of the guys, the other guy goes running, Bond jumps out of the window and there’s a bit of a chase, he causes a building to explode and they both end up—boom—on the ground, and the foot chase starts.

The baddie’s character is called Skiara, who’s played by Alessandro Cremona, he’s an Italian actor. What we’ve been shooting over the past couple of days is Bond chasing Skiara slowly making their way through the Day of the Dead parade. As the running Skiara is on his mobile phone he’s calling for backup, cue the helicopter coming down the street. Helicopter lands, it’s full of a couple of other baddies. Skiara jumps on, Bond follows, pulls off one of the baddies, Bond jumps on the helicopter, helicopter goes up, and they start to have this fight in the helicopter.

The helicopter is piloted by a guy called Chuck Aaron, who is a stunt pilot. He’s the only person who’s insured to do 360 flips in this helicopter in the world, so we’re doing a bit of the stunts here but kind of the bigger helicopter stuff is happening 10 hours outside the city at a lower altitude.

We’ve got 1500 extras here today. They all kind of file in at 4:30 in the morning to this big convention center. They have their hair and makeup done which takes anywhere from one and a half hours to two and a half hours.

Here’s the official synopsis for Spectre:

Stephanie Sigman Joins SPECTRE as a New Bond Girl, Estrella

Although production has been underway on the latest James Bond adventure for some time, there’s a late-minute addition to the cast today as EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that Stephanie Sigman has signed on for Spectre, playing a mysterious character currently known only as “Estrella.”

Directed by the Academy Award winning Sam Mendes (Skyfall, American Beauty), Spectre also stars Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Munich), Ben Wishaw (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, I’m Not There), Naomie Harris (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 28 Weeks Later), Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Invisible Woman), Christoph Waltz (Django Unchained, Inglourious Basterds), Monica Bellucci (Irreversible, Malena), David Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, The Man with the Iron Fists), Léa Seydoux (Inglourious Basterds, Blue is the Warmest Color), Andrew Scott (Locke, “Sherlock”) and Rory Kinnear (Quantum of Solace, The Imitation Game).

In the movie, a cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion), as Bond fans know, is a fictional global terrorist organization featured in Ian Fleming’s novels, as well as the films and video games based on those novels. The organization was led by the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, although the cast is definitely playing it coy about whether or not Blofeld will actually appear in the new film.

Sigman, who is set to star on the upcoming series “Narcos,” is best known for roles in films like Miss Bala and Pioneer.

Spectre, written by John Logan and Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, hits theaters on November 6, 2015.

First Official Look At Dave Bautista As ‘Mr Hinx’ & Lea Seydoux As ‘Dr. Swann’ For SPECTRE

“When I came over to meet Sam [Mendes], I only asked two questions,” says Bautista in Empire’s in-depth feature on the film. “I asked him if Mr. Hinx was a badass. He said, ‘Yes, he’s a badass.’ I said, ‘Well, is Mr. Hinx intelligent?’ He said, ‘Very.’ That’s what I like about Mr. Hinx. He’s very well-dressed and very well-mannered. I’m not just here to fight people. He has a sense of humour. He definitely knows what a metaphor is.” Just as Hinx doesn’t sound like your average Bond henchman, it seems the mysterious Dr. Madeline Swann won’t be just another “Bond Girl”. “I don’t consider myself a Bond girl,” says Lea Seydoux. “I think I’m not really the stereotyped Bond girl. I feel quite different. You can’t be like, ‘Oh, James.’ You have to find something else. She’s not a fighter, she’s a doctor,” she adds. “She fights in another way.” Be sure to pick up the current issue of Empire for more.

New SPECTRE Production Stills Features Monica Bellucci & Daniel Craig In ROME

007.com has provided our first look at Monica Bellucci on the set of Spectre, as she poses above the Forum along with Daniel Craig. Filming is set to commence in Rome on March 8, and thanks to Bad Taste we have details on what will be shot. Apparently there will be a “spectacular car chase in Via Nomentana, from viale Gorizia to Porta Pia”, followed by another on the Lungotevere that will conclude with Bond’s car falling in the river, and 007 needing to be rescued by a helicopter.

First Look At 007 For SPECTRE

The first footage from the set of SPECTRE has been released, alongside an exclusive image of James Bond (Daniel Craig) in action in the Austrian mountains.

“We have to deliver an amazing sequence and this is going to be one of the major action sequences of the movie,” explains Associate Producer Gregg Wilson. “It’s going to be spectacular and Austria seemed to offer everything that we needed to pull it off.”

The behind the scenes footage includes Daniel Craig as James Bond 007, Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista and director Sam Mendes. “The thing Sam and I talked about was how we are going to top SKYFALL”, says Production Designer Dennis Gassner. “We are going to continue the history of the Bond films, making things that are exciting for the audience to look at and what could be more exciting than to be on top of the world.”

SPECTRE will be released on November 6th, 2015

Daniel Craig Returns To ‘Spectre’ After Knee Injury; Plus Ski Set Photo

Daniel Craig sprained his knee while shooting a fight scene for the new James Bond Sony/MGM film Spectre earlier this week. The accident took place at Pinewood studios in Buckinghamshire, UK, however, the shoot didn’t lose any time or filming days, a source close to the production told Deadline, and Craig is already back to work as of today. “Everything is fine. We have been filming today,” said an on-location production staffer. The story was first reported in The Guardian.  Movie extras were reportedly told to go home on the day Craig was injured.

Last June, Harrison Ford fractured an ankle while shooting Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Pinewood Studios.

Locations for Spectre include London and Austria. Skyfall director Sam Mendes is returning to the director’s chair and Christoph Waltz, Lea Seydoux, Monica Belushi, Dave Bautista and Andrew Scott star in Spectre.

James Bond’s SPECTRE is going to the mountains.

You can see an Instagram post below from the official 007 account that shows a camera truck equipped with snowmobile treads, carrying a camera on a boom to get high-speed shots from a number of angles.

Fans are speculating that there will be a ski scene in the movie, as he has had in a number of movies including View To a Kill, Her Majesy’s Secret Service, Moonraker, For Your Eyes Only and The World Is Not Enough.

JAMES BOND: Sony Want THOR Star Idris Elba To Be The Next JAMES BOND

There’s been a lot of talk about the next James Bond being played by a black actor, and one name which keeps coming up is Luther and Thor: The Dark World star Idris Elba. He’s even expressed interest in the role, revealing in a reddit Q&A not too long ago that, “Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely,” he would play the Ian Fleming creation.

Just like many of us think Elba should be next 007, so too does Sony Pictures Entertainment co-chairman Amy Pascal according to more leaded “Sony Hack” emails unearthed by The Daily Beast.

In an email from January 2014 (so quite some time ago, and an indication that the good stuff in these emails is now reaching an end), she’s quoted as saying, “Idris should be the next bond.” It’s something they’ve thought about then, but as Pascal will more than likely be out of a job soon as this scandal worsens, her opinion may not matter…
