JURASSIC WORLD Sequel To JURASSIC PARK; Park’s T-Rex To Return; New Featurette

For Jurassic Park fans who were…disappointed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, they’re in luck. This summer’s installment, Jurassic World, is sending both installments’ events straight into extinction, Yahoo has learned.

Jurassic World, billed as a direct sequel to Stephen Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park, will apparently ignore the much-maligned sequels. While not explicitly writing them out of continuity, Jurassic World simply won’t bother addressing each installment’s events. But since both films took place on a separate island, writing them out was a fairly easy task for director Colin Trevorrow.

Instead, Jurassic World will only build off of the first installment’s story. Taking place twenty years after the events of Jurassic Park, the Chris Pratt-starring film will continue the story set on Isla Nubar, which now has a fully-functioning dinosaur theme park.

In a new interview with SlashFilm, Colin Trevorrow confirmed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex from Steven Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park will be making her return in Jurassic World. “The T. rex that’s in the film is the T. rex from the original Jurassic Park. She is 22 years older. But she’s not limping around.” He then added, “She’s still alive. She’s a little older, and she’s angry.” When asked whether or not we’d notice that it’s the same T-Rex, he responded, “I hope so. Yeah. I mean, we took the original design and obviously, technology has changed. So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin. So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her Unforgiven.”

What role will the T-Rex have in the film? A fight? A bite? Or will she just show and go. At this point, it could be anything, but I have a feeling that her role or scenes in the film will be pretty big! Speaking of “big scenes,” Colin Trevorrow also revealed that the Ankylosaurus will have a big scene in the film and said that there will be big appearances in the film and some that are small. “There’s an Ankylosaurus in this movie; was a really big scene and that’s just a bad ass dinosaur. And there are others. There’s smaller appearances, some bigger appearances.” He then elaborated and gave us a brief headcount of some of the dinosaurs in the film. “You know, we have an underwater reptile. I’m sure you’ve heard about that. That thing is pretty cool. We have a new kind of flying dinosaur that no one’s ever seen before, you know, in addition to the Pteranodons that are really scary. And I didn’t want to just throw the kitchen sink at it. Each of these movies has done a good job at just very carefully, in a measured way, increasing the new dinosaurs that you see. But, there’s a lot of dinosaurs in the movie for sure.”
