JURASSIC WORLD Sequel To JURASSIC PARK; Park’s T-Rex To Return; New Featurette

For Jurassic Park fans who were…disappointed by The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III, they’re in luck. This summer’s installment, Jurassic World, is sending both installments’ events straight into extinction, Yahoo has learned.

Jurassic World, billed as a direct sequel to Stephen Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park, will apparently ignore the much-maligned sequels. While not explicitly writing them out of continuity, Jurassic World simply won’t bother addressing each installment’s events. But since both films took place on a separate island, writing them out was a fairly easy task for director Colin Trevorrow.

Instead, Jurassic World will only build off of the first installment’s story. Taking place twenty years after the events of Jurassic Park, the Chris Pratt-starring film will continue the story set on Isla Nubar, which now has a fully-functioning dinosaur theme park.

In a new interview with SlashFilm, Colin Trevorrow confirmed that the Tyrannosaurus Rex from Steven Spielberg‘s Jurassic Park will be making her return in Jurassic World. “The T. rex that’s in the film is the T. rex from the original Jurassic Park. She is 22 years older. But she’s not limping around.” He then added, “She’s still alive. She’s a little older, and she’s angry.” When asked whether or not we’d notice that it’s the same T-Rex, he responded, “I hope so. Yeah. I mean, we took the original design and obviously, technology has changed. So, it’s going to move a little bit differently, but it’ll move differently because it’s older. And we’re giving her some scars and we’re tightening her skin. So, she has that feeling of, like, an older Burt Lancaster. And this movie is her Unforgiven.”

What role will the T-Rex have in the film? A fight? A bite? Or will she just show and go. At this point, it could be anything, but I have a feeling that her role or scenes in the film will be pretty big! Speaking of “big scenes,” Colin Trevorrow also revealed that the Ankylosaurus will have a big scene in the film and said that there will be big appearances in the film and some that are small. “There’s an Ankylosaurus in this movie; was a really big scene and that’s just a bad ass dinosaur. And there are others. There’s smaller appearances, some bigger appearances.” He then elaborated and gave us a brief headcount of some of the dinosaurs in the film. “You know, we have an underwater reptile. I’m sure you’ve heard about that. That thing is pretty cool. We have a new kind of flying dinosaur that no one’s ever seen before, you know, in addition to the Pteranodons that are really scary. And I didn’t want to just throw the kitchen sink at it. Each of these movies has done a good job at just very carefully, in a measured way, increasing the new dinosaurs that you see. But, there’s a lot of dinosaurs in the movie for sure.”

Three New JURASSIC WORLD POSTERS Show The Raptor Squad, Mosasaurus, AND The Indominus Rex!

Universal Pictures has released many posters for the upcoming Jurassic World featuring Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady and his velociraptors, another featuring one of the latest additions to the park, the Mosasaurus, and another showing Bryce Dallas Howard’s character facing off with the Indominus Rex!

Opening in 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, Jurassic World arrives from Safety Not Guaranteed helmer Colin Trevorrow and offers a terrifying sci-fi adventure set 22 years after the events of Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 Michael Crichton adaption, Jurassic Park. According to Trevorrow, a huge part of what sparked his take on the blockbuster franchise was the image of a teenager texting, unimpressed with the T. Rex behind the glass in front of him.

Jurassic World, which hits theaters on June 12, 2015, also stars Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help, Spider-Man 3), Ty Simpkins (Insidious, Iron Man 3), Jake Johnson (Let’s Be Cops, “New Girl”), Nick Robinson (The Kings of Summer), Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi, The Amazing Spider-Man), Vincent D’Onofrio (“Daredevil,” “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”), BD Wong (Jurassic Park, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”), Omar Sy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, The Intouchables), Judy Greer (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Tomorrowland), Katie McGrath (NBC’s “Dracula,” “Merlin”), Lauren Lapkus (Blended, The To Do List) and Andy Buckley (Bridesmaids, The Other Guys).

New Look At Indominus Rex For JURASSIC WORLD

In the Jurassic Park universe, as well as in every 7-year-old’s imagination, the Tyrannosaurus rex has long been the indisputable showstopper—a giant, marauding predator who ruled the Earth for millions of years. That might be about to change. In Jurassic World, Universal’s big summer tentpole, a man-made genetic hybrid called an Indominus Rex is the park’s new attraction, created specifically to scare the kids. The film’s Super Bowl trailer revealed glimpses of the beast—raptor-shaped head, alligator-like jaws, sharp claws, and a T.rex’s frame—but Universal was careful not to give too much away.

Though some merchandising shots of Indominus have leaked online, an official unveiling of sorts takes place on Saturday, Feb. 14, when Hasbro introduces its new line of Jurassic toys at Toy Fair 2015 in New York. EW has an exclusive first look at the new Alpha, the red-eyed Indominus (above), as well as images of two of your Jurassic Park favorites.

Compared to the T.rex, note the Indominus’s scales and much larger arms, long enough to scoop up prey while in mid-stride and punctuated by sharp claws that could skewer anyone unfortunate enough to fall within its reach. The Jurassic World site says the Indominus will be 40 feet tall and capable of speeds of 30 miles per hour. The $35 battery-operated toy Indominus roars, chomps, and has color-morphing skin on its back. Camouflage? No wonder the Indominus is billed as the ultimate predator.

Hasbro’s entire product line of Jurassic World toys, games, apparel, etc., will be available in May, a month before the film’s June 12 release.

Meet Vincent D’Onofrio’s Character For JURASSIC WORLD

A new viral video reveals the character played by Vincent D’Onofrio. His name is Vic Hoskins and he’s the head of InGen’s Private Security division. They’re a security force, funded by the same company as the Jurassic World park, to develop new methods of defense both for international incidents, and for anything bad that may or may not happen at the park.

Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, BD Wong, Irrfan Khan, Jake Johnson, Lauren Lapkus, Brian Tee, Omar Sy, Judy Greer, Katie McGrath, Andy Buckley, James DuMont, Courtney James Clark.
Here is a plot synopsis: Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. This new park is owned by the Masrani Corporation. Owen (Chris Pratt), a member of Jurassic World’s on-site staff, conducts behavioral research on the Velociraptors. After many years, Jurassic World’s attendance rates begin to decline and a new attraction, created to re-spark visitor interest, gravely backfires.
Jurassic World is to be released July 12, 2015.

JURASSIC WORLD Toys Reveal A New Hybrid Dinosaur

We’ve seen smaller versions of some of these already, but now images of several dinos from the upcoming Jurassic World toy line have found their way online in their packaging, and might reveal some interesting things about the movie. First off, we have this Stegosaurus/Triceratops hybrid — perhaps the Indominus Rex isn’t the only genetically altered dinosaur that’ll be featured?

Well, as we’ve come to expect from these movie-based toys, not everything we see in plastic winds up on the screen. A safer bet for an actual movie revelation is the names of the three Raptors we see being trained by Chris Pratt’s character in the trailers. It seems they’ll go by “Charlie”, “Echo” and “Delta”. “Clever as ever, Jurassic World’s velociraptors — Charlie, Delta, and Echo — are masterful hunters. Now, they’re teaming up to hunt the ultimate predator!” Not particularly imaginative, but there you go. More images at the link below.

Judy Greer Talks ANT-MAN And JURASSIC WORLD!

Known for her roles in comedies like Arrested Development, Two and a Half Men and Married, Judy Greer now finds herself appearing in several huge movies in a row. Last summer, in a mo-cap performance, she played Caesar’s wife Cornelia in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and this coming summer, she’ll appear in both Jurassic World and Ant-Man – playing “Maggie” in the latter, ex-wife to Ant-Man himself, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), and the mother to his daughter, Cassie.

Greer was at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour this week to promote the current season of Archer (in which she voices Cheryl) and an IGN reporter was among a small group who spoke to her after the show’s panel. They discussed her sudden ascension into the world of big summer movies, why she’s having a great time working on them and the role comedy plays in Marvel’s films, Ant-Man included – despite the mostly dramatic tone of that film’s teaser trailer.

Question: Between Apes last summer and now Ant-Man and Jurassic World, you’re becoming summer movie queen. How is that transition?

Judy Greer: I know. It’s a great transition. I’m enjoying it a lot. It’s been fun. More importantly than being in these giant, blockbuster movies, I’ve been really enjoying all the people I’ve been working with. In Jurassic World I got to reunite with Bryce Dallas Howard which was so great because I missed her so much. Then I got to meet for the first time Chris Pratt, who is a total peach. I love him. I had the best, best, best time on Ant-Man between Paul Rudd and Bobby Cannavale and the director, Peyton Reed. I think I laughed during all of my scenes. I’m sure the editor was not going to be happy when he got into the room with my stuff.

I just kind of wanted to see what that world was like. I’d done so many small, indie movies and even on Married for FX, it’s kind of run like an indie movie so I was like, “How do the other half live?” Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was so fun. It’s just been really cool.

Question: Some of those films, the budget for one day is like the budget for two indie films. How do you learn how to behave in that?

Greer: It’s easy. It’s nice. There’s a lot of food everywhere. You have a lot more down time. You have a trailer. That was cool. I was like, “Oh, trailer!” I have to say my directors on all of those movies were so chill that it didn’t feel any different. It just feels like going to work.

Question: Marvel is such a huge thing now with this interconnecting universe. What’s is it like becoming part of that whole world?

Greer: It was, in the beginning, a little scary. My first day on set for Ant-Man I did an interview and the guy asks me who my favorite superhero was. I said Batman and he goes, “That’s DC.” And then I was like, “Oh, sorry, Wonder Woman!” and he goes, “That’s DC.” So I called my agent and and literally he overnighted me this huge, beautiful hardcover book about all the Marvel superheroes and was like, “Some research for you.” So I’ve been learning about Marvel. But they treat us really well and I really like the risks they’re taking with the comedy in their superhero movies kind of starting with Guardians of the Galaxy.

I’m friendly with James Gunn and I was so happy that Marvel allowed his personality and his voice to show through because he’s one of the funniest guys I know. It’s fun to see superheroes who aren’t just kicking ass but are also fully formed characters. I think that’s also why they’re getting such great actors to play them, like real actors like Paul Rudd and Chris Pratt, character actors and not just pretty faces — not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Question: Now that you’re this well informed superhero expert — Judy Greer, superhero expert — who is your favorite now and why?

Greer: Now? I’m always going to say Ant-Man. I just love me some Ant-Man! Paul is so awesome and he’s so great in this role. This has been my first comic hero that I’ve really researched and fallen for. I also think the Ant-Man origin story that we tell in our movie is really beautiful and I think there’s something really real about a man trying to better himself for his family.

Question: The Ant-Man trailer leaned towards the drama but is there a pretty good amount of comedy in the film, given who’s involved?

Greer: I haven’t seen it yet but there was a lot of comedy on set and we did a lot of comedic improv. I don’t know what will end up in the movie, but yeah.
