Ben Hardy CONFIRMED To Be Angel In X-MEN APOCALYPSE

Bryan Singer has confirmed that Angel will be in X-Men: Apocalypse, and that he’ll be played by Ben Hardy.

Hardy, a former EastEnders star, was cast a while back, but his character name was withheld. But as the latest X-Men movie gets closer to production in Montreal, speculation has abounded for weeks that he would be playing Angel, a winged mutant who was one of the original X-Men, so Empire got on the phone with Singer and asked him for confirmation.

“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”

And, as if to back that up, this piece of exclusive concept art shows Angel in two guises – with wings furled and then unfurled. And those wings look less like feathers and more like daggers. Might we also be about to meet Archangel?

If you haven’t read an X-Men comic before, allow us to explain: Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac) is a super-powerful mutant supported by the Horsemen, four artificially augmented mutants whose duty it is to do their master’s bidding. Perhaps the most famous Horseman of them all is Warren Worthington III, who was transformed from the blond, blue-eyed Angel into Death, aka the blue-skinned Archangel, complete with knives for wings.

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse also stars Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) Kodi Smit-Mcphee (Nightcrawler), with Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Lana Condor (Jubilee) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse). The movie reportedly starts shooting this summer and will hit theaters on May 19 / 27, 2016.

Ben Hardy Maybe ANGEL In X-MEN APOCALYPSE

When the Wrap broke the news that Ben Hardy had landed a “key role” in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, they specified that it would not be Angel he’d be playing. Most of us assumed they must have been mistaken with this one — especially when Singer posted some concept art featuring the character — and it seems we were right. Jeff Sneider posted the following update, all-but confirming that the young actor will take flight as Angel in the movie. We just need to wait and see if Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) will get his hands on the lad and transform him into his Archangel of Death!

Directed by Bryan Singer, X-Men: Apocalypse also stars Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey) Kodi Smit-Mcphee (Nightcrawler), with Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Lana Condor (Jubilee) and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse). Ben Hardy Joins X-MEN APOCALYPSE In A Key Role

According to The Wrap, “EastEnders” star Ben Hardy is in talks for a key, as-yet-undisclosed role in Bryan Singer‘s “X-Men: Apocalypse.”

Hardy was among those who tested to play Cyclops, though that eventually went to Tye Sheridan. Hardy was also being rumored to play a young Angel but it now it appears he’s won an important role that is being kept under wraps.

Hardy will join James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, Rose Byrne. Evan Peters and newcomers Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee and most likely Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

Continuing the “First Class” era, “X-Men: Apocalypse” will be set in the 1980s and will offer some younger versions of previously-seen characters. The film is being written by Simon Kinberg.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” hits theaters on May 27, 2016.
