MTV’s ‘Shannara Chronicles’ Casts James Remar

“Dexter” alum James Remar has joined the cast of MTV’s “The Shannara Chronicles” in the role of Cephelo, the leader of the Rovers, who roam the Four Lands in the magical fantasy series.

“Shannara” is based on a series of novels written by Terry Brooks, and follows Austin Butler as Wil Ohmsford, a half-elf who learns he is the last member of the magical Shannara family and embarks on a quest to find the Druid who holds the key to his future. “Shannara” takes place centuries after Earth’s current civilization has destroyed itself through a nuclear holocaust.

The show is being produced by MTV and Sonar Entertainment and will be directed by Jonathan Liebesmen.

Remar is currently filming “February,” with Emma Roberts and Kiernan Shipka, for director Oz Perkins and Unbroken Pictures.

‘Shannara’ Adds Three to Cast

MTV’s “The Shannara Chronicles” has added three new cast members, Variety has learned.

Brooke Williams will play Catania, a witty and wise Elf who is not only Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) handmaiden, but her trusted best friend in the palace.

Daniel MacPherson will portray Arion, the heir to the Elvin throne. Arion takes himself very seriously and is the opposite of his wilder brother Ander. He has spent his entire life trying to show his father that he is worthy of the crown, and he’s ready to take over, but when his niece Amberle goes missing, his plans become complicated.

Marcus Vanco will appear as Bandon. Feared by his family for his mysterious visions, Bandon is discovered by Wil (Austin Butler) and Amberle starving and chained to a wall. Allanon (Manu Bennett) takes special interest in him, believing his abilities will be integral in saving the Four Lands.

Based on the series of novels by Terry Brooks, “Shannara” follows Butler as Wil Ohmsford, who is half elf. “The Shannara Chronicles” is currently filming in New Zealand. In addition to Drayton, Butler and Bennett, Ivana Baquero and John Rhys-Davies also star.
