New TERMINATOR GENISYS Clips & TV Spots; "Come With Me If You Want to Live"

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have given us a couple of TV spots for their upcoming movie, Terminator Genisys.

When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. Instead of a scared waitress, Sarah is a skilled fighter and has a Terminator guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) by her side. Faced with unlikely allies and dangerous new enemies, Reese sets out on an unexpected new mission: reset the future.

Also starring J.K. Simmons, Dayo Okeniyi, Matthew Smith, Courtney B. Vance and Byung-Hun Lee, Terminator Genisys is directed by Thor: The Dark World‘s Alan Taylor from a screenplay by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. The movie will hit theaters on July 1, 2015 and is the first in a planned trilogy of films.

New Empire Magazine Cover For TERMINATOR: GENISYS

The cover for the latest issue of Empire Magazine features a new look at the upcoming Terminator sequel, Terminator: Genisys, which is set to hit theaters July 1st. In addition to the ominous and forboding cover, the magazine itself features a few new stills, giving us a better look at Emilia Clarke’s Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator. It is notable that a few of these stills appear to shed some light on their largely parental relationship, most notably one which seems to detail a fairly confusing scene from the first trailer for the film. It also provides a first look at J.K. Simmons’ character, “Detective O’Brien”.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. John Connor (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Jason Clarke) is the leader of the resistance, and Kyle Reese (Divergent‘s Jai Courtney) is his loyal soldier, raised in the ruins of post apocalyptic California. As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.

KONG SKULL ISLAND: J.K. Simmons Says ‘Kong: Skull Island’ Is Set In 1970s Detroit

Last month is was announced that J.K. Simmons would star in Kong: Skull Island, alongside Tom Hiddleston. Right now, Simmons is making the rounds at various awards shows due to his spectacular performance in Whiplash, and during one of these red carpets, MTV took a moment to ask about the upcoming Kong. Simmons revealed that the film will be set in 1970s Detroit.

“When it first came to my attention, ‘There’s interest in you for a new ‘King Kong,’ I thought, ‘Okay… Why?’” Simmons explains, “But then I met with Jordan Vogt-Roberts, who’s going to be directing it and John Gatins, who’s writing and Tom [Hiddleston]. Jordan was just so passionate and so smart. It’s such an interesting, new take on it. It’s set in Detroit in 1971, which is where I grew up. We’re going to shoot it in Detroit during baseball season, so I’ll be able to go to Tigers games! There’s a lot to like about this movie!”

Previously titled Skull Island, the movie follows a team of explorers (led by Tom Hiddleston) who travel inside the “treacherous, primordial island.” Michael Keaton is rumored to star, but the news is not official yet.

Based on the talent alone, Kong is shaping up to be a major event. Simmons and Hiddleston (and Keaton) are incredibly talented (and likable!) actors. We’ve also got a great writing team onboard, and a director with a fresh take on an age-old figure.

Kong was recently pushed back from November 2016 to March 10, 2017.

KONG SKULL ISLAND: Michael Keaton in Talks

“Birdman” star Michael Keaton is in negotiations to join “Kong: Skull Island” for Universal and Legendary.

The King Kong origins project is set to open on March 10, 2017, and will be released in 3D.  The studio and Legendary unveiled “Skull Island” during Comic-Con in July, then disclosed in September that Tom Hiddleston was on board to star with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing.

Universal decided last month to move “Skull Island” back four months and brought on J.K. Simmons to co-star.

John Gatins (“Flight”) and Max Borenstein (“Godzilla”) wrote the script, about a team of explorers who venture deep inside the primordial island that is King Kong’s home. Legendary said the story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore created in the iconic 1933 film.

Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce; Alex Garcia exec produces.

KONG: SKULL ISLAND: JK Simmons Added To Cast

Deadline report that the awesome J.K. Simmons (Spider-Man, OZ, Juno, Whiplash) will be joining Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers, Thor when we return to King Kong’s home next year. His exact role is unspecified however. The movie recently backed away from its original release date — and Marvels Doctor Strange — and will now hit theaters March 10th, 2017. Details on the story are slim, but we do have this brief description. “Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions.” Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kings Of Summer) will direct with a script by John Gatins and Max Borenstein.
