No 2nd Season For CONSTANTINE; ARROW’s Stephen Amell Supports A Renewal

NBC has declined to renew Constantine for a second season…but the show isn’t quite dead yet.

Executive Producer Daniel Cerone broke the news via Twitter, but says that Warner Bros. is still shopping the series around in hopes of finding it a new home.

While the show never drew a huge audience in its difficult Friday night timeslot, where it was meant to serve as a companion piece to Grimm, the adaptation of the popular DC Comics character has found a cult following that is still hoping to #SaveConstantine.

Arrow lead Stephen Amell has came out in full support for his fellow DC TV show – pledging to guest star on it, were it picked up by another suitor. Since then, Amell has revealed that genuine discussions about an Arrow/Constantine crossover have indeed happened in the past, over at DC Entertainment.

While speaking at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, Amell talked candidly about the wildly popular DC TV universe – and the potential for interconnectivity between any of its shows, including Constantine. Check out what he had to say below :

“There is an opportunity for interconnectivity with any DC television show that exists. Like, as an example, yesterday Constantine was cancelled. And there is…yeah, I know, it’s brutal…it’s a good show, and it should come back. And it may come back, like there are various platforms where it could come back.”
“Now, Constantine was an NBC show. I’m on The CW. I had had discussions with DC… so not NBC, not CW… but with DC Entertainment about guest starring on Constantine when it was still on the air. And that was and is still on the table. So we have Flash, we have Legends of Tomorrow, a new show which is directly connected to the Arrow universe, we have Supergirl… I’m sure it’s going to be amazing… there’s Gotham obviously, and I’m missing something… Titans, there you go… we have no shortage of options for me and other characters to populate.”

While it may be difficult to see the supernatural procedural and urban superhero drama meshing together at first, Amell explained that there had always been a very specific reason behind a potential crossover:

“The reason that I was going to guest star on Constantine, at least the idea that we were throwing around was he’s an expert when it comes to the Lazarus Pit, which is now something that is a part of and will continue to be a part of Arrow.””

While it’s dissappointing we never got to see this crossover this year, there may yet be some hope for next season. Amell claimed that the likes of Geoff Johns, Jim Lee and his Flash co-star Grant Gustin had joined him in throwing in their support for a surprise pick-up for Constantine.

Nightwing Will Lead Teen Titans

Nightwing has been officially confirmed as a member of TNT’s upcoming Titans series.
While many assumed that the former Robin would be a part of the televised Titans, DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirmed it on Twitter, writing “Long time coming to get Nightwing to live action…!”

The news came quickly after the announcement that Titans would begin filming sometime next year, which also came by way of Johns’ Twitter account.
Nighting, a.k.a. Dick Grayson, is the former protege of Batman and Bruce Wayne. As the first character to carry the mantle of Robin, Grayson is one of DC Comics’ oldest characters. Grayson quit as Batman’s partner during the 1980s however, and adopted the Nightwing persona during Marv Wolfman and George Perez’s esteemed run on “New Teen Titans.”
Despite his storied history with DC Comics, Nightwing has never been included into any live-action adaptations. Dick Grayson’s live-action appearances on the screen, big and small, have only been as Robin.  However, Nightwing has appeared in several DC animated series, including Young Justice, The New Adventures of Batman, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Titans, which will bring DC Comics’ “Teen Titans” franchise to live-action, is set to begin filming next year for TNT.

Teen Titans Will Film Next Year

It’s official. Production for the new TNT pilot, Titans, will soon be underway. Geoff Johns, Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment, gave an update on the project on social media yesterday.

The one-hour live-action drama would focus on younger superheroes in the DC Comics universe.

The series would center on Dick Grayson, the former Robin, who emerges from Batman’s shadow to become Nightwing and the leader of a fearless band of heroes who include Starfire and Raven.

Akiva Goldsman and Marc Haimes will serve as exec producer and co-exec producer, respectively, with Warner Horizon Television producing.

Constantine Production Halted After Episode 13

Unfortunately the Hellblazer inspired tv show produced by NBC is to stop production this season after its thirteenth episode.
The main reason is because of poor ratings during its current run on television right now.
This would be a missed opportunity for NBC and DC/ Hellblazer as it has introduced so many characters that I have not heard of and offers something else for the DC fans other than Arrow, The Flash, or Gotham. It has introduced a new area of the DC comics that hasn’t been touched since the Keanu Reeves’ Constantine in a live-action medium.
So to help save this show I want each and every person reading this story to tweet to NBC with the #SaveConstantine.
It would be a great loss to the already awesome DC TV shows.

Black Canary Trilogy For Midseason January Episodes

Upcoming episodes of Arrow will feature a “trilogy” about Black Canary, according to one of the series’ producers.
Before last night’s screening of the Arrow and The Flash crossover episodes, showrunner Andrew Kreisberg told The Hollywood Reporter that Arrow’s tenth, eleventh and twelfth episodes of the season will revolve around Laurel’s transformation into Black Canary.
“Laurel appears in the Arrow episode,” Kreisberg said. “She’s not as present in these episodes, but that is because we’ve been building up to her appearance as the Black Canary. We sort of said that Sara was the Canary, but Laurel is the Black Canary. Episodes 10, 11 and 12 are a three-part trilogy that are about her. And episode 13 I think I can spoil, is called ‘Canaries.’ For fans of Laurel and for fans of Katie [Cassidy], they’re going to get more than their fill after the winter break.”
The episode titled “Canaries” is likely going to be one that heavily features Sara Lance, the first Black Canary, whose murder in the season premiere has been driving most of the action this year on Arrow. The midseason finale, which takes place the week after the crossover episodes air, will be the ninth episode and revolve heavily around the murder mystery as Nyssa Raatko, the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul and Sara’s former lover, gives Team Arrow an ulitmatum: find and punish Sara’s killer or face the wrath of the League of Assassins.
While Sara, played by Caity Lotz, died in the premiere and appeared only as a corpse in a few scenes from the season’s second episode, producers have previously promised that fans would get more from Lotz, who has a multi-episode contract this year. They hope to do a story that explores the time between when she disappeared from Lian Yu at the end of Season Two’s flashbacks and when she reappeared in Starling City at the start of Season Two.

THE FLASH: Synopsis For "The Man in the Yellow Suit" Reveals Who ISN’T ‘Reverse-Flash’

The CW have released the full synopsis for The Flash’s midseason finale, “The Man in the Yellow Suit”. It confirms that we’ll finally meet both Reverse-Flash AND Firestorm, but may also reveal which character isn’t the iconic villain who murdered Barry Allen’s mother…
BARRY COMES FACE-TO-FACE WITH THE MAN IN THE YELLOW SUIT/AMANDA PAYS RETURNS TO THE FLASH — Barry (Grant Gustin) finds himself face-to-face with his nemesis, the man in the yellow suit, a.k.a. Reverse Flash, who killed his mother. Barry is frustrated when the Reverse Flash escapes, but Dr. Wells (Tom Cavanagh) and Cisco (Carlos Valdes) come up with a plan to trap him. All they need is bait, so they turn to Dr. Tina McGee (guest star Amanda Pays) from Mercury Labs to help. Meanwhile, it’s Christmas at The West household and Iris (Candice Patton) is in full holiday cheer. Eddie (Rick Cosnett) gives her a surprising gift but also leaves her with a question that could change her life. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) joins the search for the man in yellow and ends up in the crossfire. Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) finds Ronnie (Robbie Amell). Ralph Hemecker directed the episode written by Todd Helbing & Aaron Helbing (#109).
So, based on this description, it definitely sounds as if Harrison Wells isn’t Reverse-Flash. There are a lot of other theories doing the rounds in regards to his true identity (an older Barry Allen and Vandal Savage are two of the most popular), but those of you who believe he’s this particular villain may want to rethink your stance on things! Regardless, there are a lot of other interesting details in here, and it sounds as if we should also expect to meet Firestorm for the first time. The wait over Christmas for The Flash to return is going to be torture. What do you think about these details?

Arrow/Flash Crossover Promo Pics

The CW have released some set and promo photos of the upcoming crossover episodes, which will have Arrow V going against the Flash for some reason.
The Flash will start off the crossover so here is the synopsis of the first episode :
“Barry is thrilled when Oliver, Felicity and Diggle come to Central City to investigate a case involving a deadly boomerang. Excited about teaming up with his friend, Barry asks Oliver if he’d like to help him stop Ray Bivolo (guest star Patrick Sabongui), the meta-human Barry is currently tracking. Bivolo causes people to lose control of their emotions and has been using that skill to rob banks. Unfortunately, the superhero partnership doesn’t go as smoothly as Barry expected. When Oliver tells Barry he still has a lot to learn, Barry sets out to prove him wrong by attempting to stop Bivolo alone. However, when Bivolo infects Barry and sets him on a rage rampage, everyone is in danger, and the only one who can stop him is the Arrow. Meanwhile, Iris is furious when Eddie tries to get a task force to stop The Flash, Joe and Dr. Wells agree the Arrow is a bad influence on Barry, and Caitlin and Cisco deal with a new team in S.T.A.R. Labs.”
The episode is directed by Glen Winter with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Ben Sokolowski & Brooke Eikmeier. It’s set to air December 2.
Following that episode, “Arrow” will bring us the conclusion of the crossover with an episode titled “The Brave and The Bold.” It’s officially described as follows:
“Oliver, Arsenal and Diggle track down the location of a boomerang-wielding killer named Digger Harkness (guest star Nick Tarabay) but are surprised when they come face to face with an A.R.G.U.S. team. Diggle asks Lyla why A.R.G.U.S. is involved but she defers until Harkness attacks the building, killing several agents and targeting Lyla. The Arrow joins the fight and gets help from an old friend – The Flash. Harkness manages to get away and Oliver teams up with Barry again to find him before he can get to Lyla. When Harkness plants five bombs in the city that are timed to explode at the same time, both teams must come together to save the city.”
Jesse Warn directed the episode with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Marc Guggenheim & Grainne Godfree Schwartz. It’s set to air December 3.
“The Flash” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. and “Arrow” airs Wednesdays at  8 p.m., both on The CW.

Harley Quinn And Prenatal Robin May Feature In "Gotham"

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller has confirmed that there are currently no plans to introduce Harley Quinn in the series, but did promise a “prenatal” Robin story at some point.
“We’re going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line,” Heller says. “There are no MRIs involved. There’s an episode coming up where we learn how Robin’s parents got together.”
If Gotham takes place when Bruce Wayne is still child, it makes sense that Batman’s eventual teenage sidekick hasn’t even been conceived yet.
As for Harley Quinn, who seemed to be being teased at Gotham’s New York Comic Con panel, Heller says the rumors were likely the result of a simple discussions about which characters should be used this season.
“One of the things about the size and scope and ambitious of this production is that — it’s not that there’s lots of chefs in the kitchen, but there’s a lot of people with opinions and views and inside knowledge,” Heller says. “That aspect of the show — which characters to use and when — is a source of constant discussion. And that may well have been an issue that came up and was dropped. We haven’t got Harley Quinn in it. Riddler’s girlfriend is coming up. And Harley Quinn is definitely planned for later on, but so far no.”
“You can’t just keep pumping these characters into the show in a comic book sort of way, because you get the Super Friends effect — which isn’t a bad effect, but then you have spaceships and need to go underwater and get wacky villains and the rest of it,” he said. “You have to work as a character piece first. First it has to be real.”
Gotham airs Monday nights on Fox.
