First Official Trailer For Ridley Scott’s THE MARTIAN; "In Your Face Neil Armstrong!"

20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for The Martian. In which we see Matt Damon use his wits and know how to survive the isolation of Mars’ vast desert land and waiting for his crew to come bring him home!

During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.

Based on a best-selling novel, and helmed by master director Ridley Scott, THE MARTIAN features a star studded cast that includes Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Peña, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sebastian Stan, Sean Bean and Donald Glover.

First Z FOR ZACHARIAH Trailer; Robbie, Pine, & Ejiofor Are Survivors

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first Z for Zachariah trailer. The film stars Margot Robbie as a young woman living in a fertile valley that has somehow been spared from nuclear war. One day, she meets a fellow survivor (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and they begin to form a bond, but their relationship is strained when another man (Chris Pine) enters the picture.

While this trailer plays up the love triangle aspect of the story, it does give us a glimpse at what it will be like and what type of theme it is presenting, human frailty. It is also showing the underlying tension between the characters and their situation.

In the wake of a nuclear war, a young woman survives on her own, fearing she may actually be the proverbial last woman on earth, until she discovers the most astonishing sight of her life: another human being. A distraught scientist, he’s nearly been driven mad by radiation exposure and his desperate search for others. A fragile, imperative strand of trust connects them. But when a stranger enters the valley, their precarious bond begins to unravel. Z FOR ZACHARIAH is inspired by the novel of the same name by Robert C. O’Brien, published posthumously in 1974, and was created by Pall Grimsson and adapted for the screen by Nissar Modi (Breaking At The Edge).

Chiwetel Ejiofor Comments On DOCTOR STRANGE Rumors AND Chris Pine Talks STAR TREK 3 Script

In a joint video interview with Z for Zachariah stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Pine, and Margot Robbie, the trio talk about their upcoming projects with Robbie mentioning Harley Quinn, Ejiofor addressing those Doctor Strange rumours, and Pine discussing Simon Pegg writing Star Trek 3.

Collider caught up with Z for Zachariah stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Pine, and Margot Robbie recently to discuss their respective roles in that film, but finished the interview by quizzing the trio on some of their other high profile upcoming projects. For Robbie, that’s Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. All she would say was that she’s, “Pretty effin excited,” and that “It’s going to be epic.” Ejiofor meanwhile – who is rumoured to be up for a villainous role in Doctor Strange – wasn’t willing to comment on that report, saying only: “You’ll be the first to know.” We’ll see about that! Pine meanwhile was asked to weigh in on the news that Simon Pegg wil rewrite Star Trek 3. “Pretty radical,” he said in response to how he feels about it. “It’s the best thing that could have happened to us. So excited to have Simon behind it. I think the big thing with Trek is that there’s a nice comedic bent to it, so to have  Simon architecting that is perfect.” What do you think?

Marvel Courting Chiwetel Ejiofor for Leading Role in ‘Doctor Strange’

Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor could join his first comic book movie.

The actor is being courted by Marvel to take on an unspecified role in the company’s Doctor Strange, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, and could join Benedict Cumberbatch, who is starring as the surgeon turned sorcerer supreme Stephen Strange, aka Doctor Strange.

Talks are said to be in the early stages, and Marvel had no comment.

Character and plot details are being kept hidden from the all-seeing Eye of Agamotto.

Several sources have intoned that Ejiofor is wanted for a villainous role, but some insiders have pooh-poohed that. The villain is likely to be classic bad guy Baron Mordo, a sorcerer’s pupil whose next-in-line status is usurped by Strange, thus making him the physician’s mortal enemy.

If Marvel feels like mixing up ethnicities, a possible role could be that of Wong, the monk servant to Strange who is adept in martial arts. Another possibility is the role of the Ancient One, a semi-immortal mystic who mentors Strange and is the sorcerer supreme of this dimension.

Scott Derrickson is directing the movie, which is in the early stages of casting and will shoot after Captain America: Civil War, according to sources. Strange has a release date of Nov. 4, 2016.
Ejiofor was reportedly due to play a villain in the new James Bond movie, Spectre, but talks never reached the dealmaking phase.

Ejiofor, who was nominated for a best actor Oscar for his performance in 12 Years a Slave, already has notched a number of villainous roles on this thespian sash, notably in Joss Whedon’s Serenity and Children of Men. He is currently shooting The Martian for Ridley Scott and stars in Z for Zachariah, which will premiere later this month at the Sundance Film Festival.

First Look At Chris Pine, Margot Robbie, And Chiwetel Ejiofor For "Z For Zachariah"

Craig Zobel will adapt Robert C. O’Brien’s sci-fi novel, Z For Zacharia, for Lotus Entertainment. The director has released the first official look at his main cast: Margot Robbie  will play a woman (a teenager in the book) who lives alone on a farm in the only valley with breathable air following the outbreak of nuclear war. Her life is turned upside down after two strangers (Star Trek Into Darkness’ Chris Pine and Serenity’s Chiwetel Ejifor) emerge from the forest and make contact. Below is the novel synopsis.
Is anyone out there? Ann Burden is sixteen years old and completely alone. The world as she once knew it is gone, ravaged by a nuclear war that has taken everyone from her. For the past year, she has lived in a remote valley with no evidence of any other survivors. But the smoke from a distant campfire shatters Ann’s solitude. Someone else is still alive and making his way toward the valley. Who is this man? What does he want? Can he be trusted? Both excited and terrified, Ann soon realizes there may be worse things than being the last person on Earth.

Z For Zachariah will be released late next year.

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sebastian Stan Join "The Martian"

The Martian continues to collect A-list talent for its ever-growing ensemble, with Deadline reporting that Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sebastian Stan have signed on to join the production.

The new film will star Matt Damon as an astronaut who finds himself marooned on Mars after his crew believe him to have died while out on the planet’s surface.

According to the report, Ejiofor will play Venkat Kapoor, the Director of the mission to Mars, while Stan’s role remains unconfirmed.

Producer Simon Kinberg is suitably enthused about the casting, telling EW that, “this is one of those movies that’s had a blessed life… every actor is doing it for significantly less than their normal fee. It’s a real labour of love.”

Directed by Scott and co-starring Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Michael Peña, Kate Mara and Sean Bean, The Martian will open in the UK on 27 November 2015.
