Jai Courtney Talks SUICIDE SQUAD’S Captain Boomerang And More

Speaking with SpotlightReport.com to promote Terminator: Genysis, actor Jai Courtney also touched on his role as Captain Boomerang in David Ayer’s Suicidie Squad and Jared Leto’s performance as the Joker.  Said the Divergent actor, “[Suicide Squad’s] really great, man. I’m really excited about it. The vibe on set’s fantastic. We’ve really found a sort of a family atmosphere out there. The cast are fantastic. And I’m working with some wonderful actors and David Ayer’s someone who… I mean, he was the real draw card for me. I hadn’t read a script at all when I signed on. We’d met on a couple of occasions and we’d spoken. And, to be honest, when he told me that the role of Captain Boomerang was what he was thinking, I kind of cringed. ‘Cause I wasn’t a comic book kid. I wasn’t familiar with the DC universe and the history of that’. So I knew nothing about it. And I was, like, ‘Oh, god, Captain Boomerang…Really?…I really don’t know how Australians will react to this.’ (laughs)

And It’s funny, ‘cause something like that you want to do right. And it’s been interesting finding the balance. But he’s the perfect guy to have on your side, because you look at some of the comic books and some of the old sixties stuff is so hammy, you know, and kind of camp. But, get a guy like David Ayer at the helm of a thing like this and it really gets kind of dark and gritty, and, you know, awesome. And he’s a stickler for authenticity. So I think what we’re going to create is going to be really, really cool.”

And just as many fans have surmised from set photos and videos, Jared Leto’s Joker will take crazy to another level.  When asked about Leto’s portrayal, Courtney briefly confirmed, “[It’s out there, man] (Laughs).”

Terminator: Genysis arrives in theaters on July 1, 2015.

Directed by David Ayer from his script, Suicide Squad stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jared Leto (the Joker), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang),

As in the original film, Connor sends Reese back to 1984 to save Connor’s mother, Sarah (Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator programmed to kill her so that she won’t ever give birth to John. But what Reese finds on the other side is nothing like he expected.

A Game of Photoshop Is Afoot As New TERMINATOR GENISYS Poster Released

Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have released a new poster for Terminator Genisys! But it does come with a huge spoiler from the movie itself. In the film, when John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance, sends Sgt. Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) and safeguard the future, an unexpected turn of events creates a fractured timeline. Now, Sgt. Reese finds himself in a new and unfamiliar version of the past, where he is faced with unlikely allies, including the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), dangerous new enemies, and an unexpected new mission: To reset the future…“The story has changed,” star Arnold Schwarzenegger said previously of the franchise entry, “so I am like a combination of the characters who you have seen in the past. He is a powerful and potentially evil kind of machine that can be very destructive if I see that there is danger from me or for the victory against the machines. I can switch over to being the protector of Sarah Connor. It depends where we are in this storyline.”

New TERMINATOR: GENISYS Trailer Shows Surprising Twist!

Paramount has released a new Terminator: Genisys trailer, and it finally shows what the latest installment in the franchise has to offer. The story looks like it’s going along the regular beats—A terminator is sent back by the machines to kill Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke) so her son John (Jason Clarke) can’t be born and be humanity’s savior; one of John’s soldiers, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), goes back to protect Sarah from the terminator.

We knew that in this sequel an older Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) was protecting Sarah and had been doing so since she was a child. The new trailer reveals that the threat isn’t just another liquid metal Terminator. The threat is John Connor, and not necessarily a mechanized-version. The trailer makes it clear this isn’t a matter of the machines learning how to shapeshift, and that there’s technically some of the real John Connor who’s trying to kill Sarah and Kyle. Now I’m interested.

Check out the new Terminator: Genisys trailer below along with a new image. The film opens in 3D on July 1st, and also stars J.K. Simmons, Byung-hun Lee, Matt Smith, Dayo Okeniyi, and Courtney B. Vance.

David Ayer’s SUICIDE SQUAD Cast Photo; Deathstroke, Dr. Hugo Strange, And Ravan Cast?

David Ayer has shared a main cast photo for his upcoming DC venture, Suicide Squad, which shows the already confirmed cast but with some surprising extras!

So, here is what is presumably the main cast of Suicide Squad. From L – R are director David Ayer, Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Karen Fukuhara (Plastique), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). More to the point, where the hell is Jared Leto? Probably taking the photo as his hair likely a shade of green right now…Jesse Eisenberg, Scott Eastwood, and others are missing too.

A few mystery parts have also seemingly been cast as previously unannounced actors Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), Jim Parrack (Fury), and Adam Beach (Cowboys & Aliens) were also pictured.

Their roles were a mystery for an hour or so before Latino-Review’s El Mayimbe dropped another major scoop shedding some light on how the trio play into the picture. It looks like due to a snag in negotiations (and a convenient decision to go younger with the character), Joe Manganiello (Spider-Man) is out as Deathstroke and Jim Parrack has been selected as his replacement. He also revealed that comedian Ike Barinholtz has been cast as Dr. Hugo Strange and Adam Beach is rumored to have been cast as Ravan.

New Footage In International TERMINATOR: GENISYS Trailer

“It can’t be bargained with, can’t be reasoned with.” Paramount have released a brand new extended TV spot for Terminator: Genisys, and there’s quite a bit of new stuff to take in — including a bit of humor thanks to our first real introduction to J.k. Simmons’ character.

The beginning of Terminator: Genisys, the first of three planned films that Paramount hopes will relaunch the beloved sci-fi franchise, is set in 2029, when the Future War is raging and a group of human rebels has the evil artificial-intelligence system Skynet on the ropes. Arkham Asylum Teased To Appear In SUICIDE SQUAD; Details On Captain Boomerang’s Look

If you’re unfamiliar with DC Comics character George “Digger” Harkness, his “Captain Boomerang” supervillian name and overall appearance might lead you to believe that he’s a bit of a joke — but Harkness is one of the most ruthless, sadistic killers in the DCU. He’s usually depicted as being racist, cowardly, and such a nasty piece of work in general that he’s even despised by the other members of Task Force X that are forced to work with him.

While we don’t know if this will carry over to Jai Courney’s take on the character for the Suicide Squad movie (though it follows that the team will have at least one true villain), thanks to El Mayimbe we do at least have some details on the clobber he’ll be sporting. “Boomerang is very rock n roll,” he reveals in his latest Instagram post. “They’re experimenting with a series of looks for him. Very hard rock influenced. Example, he wears a Pantera shirt with his prison uniform plus the trademark beanie.”

It looks like we’ll be paying a visit to Gotham City and Arkham Asylum in Suicide Squad based on the Tweet below from director David Ayer. Of course, these files might just be kept in Amanda Waller’s office, but it’s a cool nod nonetheless. Rumour has it that [SPOILERS] the movie will kick off with Harley Quinn attempting to rescue The Joker as he’s transferred from Arkham to Belle Reve by Amanda Waller. [END SPOILERS]

The cast of Suicide Squad includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, and Jesse Eisenberg. It’s set to be released on August 5th, 2016.

New Empire Magazine Cover For TERMINATOR: GENISYS

The cover for the latest issue of Empire Magazine features a new look at the upcoming Terminator sequel, Terminator: Genisys, which is set to hit theaters July 1st. In addition to the ominous and forboding cover, the magazine itself features a few new stills, giving us a better look at Emilia Clarke’s Sarah Connor and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator. It is notable that a few of these stills appear to shed some light on their largely parental relationship, most notably one which seems to detail a fairly confusing scene from the first trailer for the film. It also provides a first look at J.K. Simmons’ character, “Detective O’Brien”.
