David Ayer’s SUICIDE SQUAD Cast Photo; Deathstroke, Dr. Hugo Strange, And Ravan Cast?

David Ayer has shared a main cast photo for his upcoming DC venture, Suicide Squad, which shows the already confirmed cast but with some surprising extras!

So, here is what is presumably the main cast of Suicide Squad. From L – R are director David Ayer, Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Karen Fukuhara (Plastique), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller). More to the point, where the hell is Jared Leto? Probably taking the photo as his hair likely a shade of green right now…Jesse Eisenberg, Scott Eastwood, and others are missing too.

A few mystery parts have also seemingly been cast as previously unannounced actors Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project), Jim Parrack (Fury), and Adam Beach (Cowboys & Aliens) were also pictured.

Their roles were a mystery for an hour or so before Latino-Review’s El Mayimbe dropped another major scoop shedding some light on how the trio play into the picture. It looks like due to a snag in negotiations (and a convenient decision to go younger with the character), Joe Manganiello (Spider-Man) is out as Deathstroke and Jim Parrack has been selected as his replacement. He also revealed that comedian Ike Barinholtz has been cast as Dr. Hugo Strange and Adam Beach is rumored to have been cast as Ravan.

Viola Davis Talks Amanda Waller For SUICIDE SQUAD

While on the red carpet for the annual GLAAD Media Awards, Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder) took a few moments to chat with CBR News about her upcoming role as Amanda Waller in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Her first question was the age-old why did she sign on for the part, her reply: “That she’s Amanda Waller! That she’s badass!”

The actress then elaborated a bit and revealed how she relates to the character: “She’s unapologetic, everything that I’m reading and studying about her: unapologetic, no humor, just brutal. That’s me!” The two-time Tony Award-winner & two-time Academy Award-nominee sounded genuinely excited that she’ll be the one to bring The Wall to life on screen and ended her brief interview by sharing some of the sentiment: “Listen, she gets to use a gun, it’s my fantasy. Now, I would never do that in real life, but when I get a gun on set, it does something to me. *Laughs*”

Viola Davis Talks SUICIDE SQUAD

Now that there is confirmation Viola Davis will be portraying Amanda Waller in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad adaptation and beyond, the two-time Oscar-nominated actress was recently asked what appealed to her about the project. “As a comic book and Wonder Woman fan, I love the whole DC Comics universe,” she told The Hollywood Reporter yesterday. “I traded comics as a kid so all of that appeals to me. When you dream about being an actor as a kid, that’s what you dream about. It’s like play acting: being the superhero, getting the gun; it plays into that fantasy. How to Get Away with Murder changed my exposure. I don’t know if it changed the quality of roles as much as it the exposure. I mean certainly Amanda Waller is a fabulous character.”

Viola Davis Confims Amanda Waller Role In Suicide Squad

At the 87th Academy Awards, Viola Davis (“How To Get Away With Murder”) confirmed to CTV’s eTalk that she will play Amanda Waller in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Waller is the fearless, no-nonsense leader of the villains-to-heroes group.

ETalk asked Davis if she’ll be in Toronto this summer to shoot Suicide Squad. She nodded several times and then replied, “Yes.” Her husband Julius Tennon actually confirms it before she can. After she made it official he enthusiastically shouts, “Amanda Waller is in the house!” It’s a cute moment.

SUICIDE SQUAD: Amanda Waller Casted?

A couple weeks back it was reported that Oprah Winfrey, Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis were all being considered for the Amanda Waller role in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, which is based on DC Comics characters.

Now, according to a report on Latino Review, their sources have indicated that Viola Davis has been cast in the role of Amanda Waller. However, they also add that the role is contingent on working things out with Viola’s TV schedule. Viola currently stars as Annalise Keating in the TV series How To Get Away With Murder.

Warner Bros. has already officially announced several cast members for Suicide Squad, including Jared Leto as the Joker, Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress.

Suicide Squad is being directed by David Ayers. The film is scheduled to be released in movie theaters on August 5, 2016.
